Former Arsenal midfielder David Bentley has vowed to win over the Tottenham fans
after his £15m move from Blackburn Rovers. The 23-year-old says that he has his
'heart is at Tottenham' and it 'means the world' to him to join the club.
Of course, as he started his career at Tottenham's rivals Arsenal, there may be some
animosity from the Spurs crowd but I would place a on Bentley winning
them over with his football.
Since leaving Arsenal in 2006 and after a loan spell at Norwich City, Bentley joined
Blackburn and since then has developed a great deal as a player. If you were to team of the week, there was certainly a good chance that
Bentley would have been there during his time at Ewood Park.
His spell at Blackburn lead to him being called up to the England squad and he believes
that the move to White Hart Lane increases his chances of making the next step
and become a regular member of the England starting 11.
If I was to 's
best eleven players right now, I am not convinced Bentley would be there. However,
a good season at Spurs could see that all change.
Bentley joins Luka Modric, Giovani Des Santos and Heurelho Gomes as new
arrivals at Tottenham this summer. Juande Ramos is certainly putting together his own
squad, that's for sure. I would playing some excellent football this
season and Bentley will want to be a huge part of that.
In terms of , Spurs have a very good chance of finishing in the
top six as far as I am concerned. They have the best chance they have had in years. As
ever a good start to the season is crucial and with games against Middlesbrough, Sunderland
and Wigan early on, I would like to see the on Tottenham being top of the
league come September.
